Jeudi Pop (Anne Cecile Rouxel, Rinus van Alebeek), a combination of musique concrete and electropunkpop, might seem an odd combination of two genres that at first 'sight' appear completely opposed to each other. Those who listen more close will discover that Jeudi Pop brings together again the aspects of experimental music that once were united in the works of Luc Ferrari: ambiental recordings, melodies, voices and atmospheric compositions. Jeudi Pop sees itself as a continuation of Luc... ( 1 reviews ) Topic: Philip Markus, geert jan lubberhuizenprijs, staalplaat, jeudi pop, rinus van alebeek, nincaleece,...
'Pendulum'.Interactive Sound Installation. The movement of a pendulum is tracked by a spiral of sixty-four sensors. As the pendulum passes over a sensor a sound event is triggered. As the pendulum traces its trajectory, we experience repeating patterns of sounds. In reality, however, these patterns are constantly changing as the effects of gravity, air resistance and friction dampen the movement of the pendulum. Sounds are lost from the pattern as the pendulumâs trajectory decays but sounds... ( 1 reviews ) Topics: Iain McCurdy, Audition Records, Interactive, Sound, Installation, Experimental, NK, Berlin
Rinus Van Alebeek is a writer, sound artist and performer born in The Netherlands in 1956. This is a live set of grandmaster of improv musiv and free-jazz, sax and flute multiinstrumentalist Sergey Letov, and experimental electronic artist Nikita Golyshev at National Centre for Contemporary arts in Moscow, Russia. Deep drones and gentle noises, high pitched sines and scratches, glithes and field recordings with amasing explosions of free saxophone. One of the most beautifull examples of russian free art. A Greek meets a Mexican in London. The Mexican meets an American in Mexico. The American meets the Greek in Madrid. It sounds like the beginning of a joke about airplanes and parachutes but in fact, it's the beginning of a trio whose music has been acclaimed by the critics as "stunning in its clarity, exquisite in it palette of sounds and inexhaustible invention" (James Wyness), the result of an "incredible level of musicianship." Elín Anna Steinarsdóttir (Reykjavík, Iceland) was introduced to her father's analogue equipment at the early age of 6, and she quickly gained intuition for it. Raised in a family of musicians, she was since then determined to continue the age-old tradition. In "Impressions", her first public appearance, she brings tracks of abstract, unusual guitarexperiments, as well as persuasive minimal electronic sequences and tweaked recordings of everyday objects, acoustic instruments and... ps and m__ - the two hard working individuals behind the stellar Enough Records and Con-v - joined forces to create an intelligent melting pot of various musique concrete styles, which pretty much reflects the quality of their own brainchilds. In this unique cooperation they have constructed a polymorphic opus from just about any type of source material. It seems combinations of concrete vs electronic ambiences continue to find their way to Entity, and this one in specific sums the whole... In 2006, me and GyS talked about collaboration, in which we could use each otherâs material. We exchanged the raw files. I completed my part, composed from his sounds (mostly guitar sound). In the middle of GySâ work his computer crashed and all his work was lost. Only my part left, and it is on this ep. Back to Russia, where Nikita Golyshev (CD-R) and Evgeny Novikov performed an impressive live session (13/03/05, Moscow), which formed the building blocks of this quite experimental album. The unique approach of this duo allows for the most distant elements to be combined in something that sounds at times like a (sur)real environment, and at other times more like a guitar thrown in a trash compactor (if you've enjoyed NTT014 - Universumix, you realise that this isn't necessarily a bad thing).... Hard to believe, but some of you are expecting the worst from today. The signifiant date of June 6th, 2006 (6.6.06 for those who haven't noticed yet) brings apocalyptic and purely infernal visions to some people's minds. Well, we don't really trust the numerology and we don't expect the end of the world today... But, with whole respect, we have prepared something special for those who will feel a bit disappointed at the end of the day. From Tomasz Twardawa's structured and industrial-like... Here is a contribution to the acclaimed Rain series on Webbed Hand by 833-45, a project of the talented producer K.M. Krebs. It's hard to describe this EP without resorting to thev inevitable Kranky references, because Drömminge EP's 12 minutes of melodic drones is obviously related to the soft, dreamy guitar of ambient bands such as Labradford and Stars of the Lid. But Midholm's background in industrial noise shines through from time to time, giving the dreamy soundscapes a sinister and rough edge sometimes lacking in the affor mentioned bands. Though this is only the second release under his own name, Karl Midholm... ( 4 reviews ) Topic: Ambient
NEVER UNDERESTIMATE HUMAN STUPIDITY THE MOST STUPID RECORD EVER? You know what? We tried to make the most stupid record ever. And of course we failed. It was a stupid idea in the first place. But having a stupid idea should be a good place to start, shouldn't it? Of course, it isn't. There is a big difference between doing a stupid piece of music and TRYING TO DO one. Some artists featured in this compilation did not try to make a stupid piece of music: they just unearthed the most stupid track... ( 3 reviews ) Topics: Other, stupid, file under toner
Somewhere in the spectrum between Musique Concrete and Phonography, is a vast gray area that is disowned and disputed by either side. This compilation treats this no-man's land as its playground. Field recordings they are, with some processing, but not just walls of rhythmic noise. Sounds of nature, sounds of the city, using the non-instrumental rhythms and melodies of the source recording as the focal points, coaxing the music and beauty out of unplanned, un-orchestrated events.
